Oregon Fire Safety (Updated 10/23/2008)

Oregon: A recent report by the Oregon Dept. of Human Services has conceded that a certain type of flame retardant (DECA) “does not pose an immediate health hazard.” Moreover, this report has alluded to research contrary to DECA’s safety being full of uncertainties and inadequate data. Nonetheless, a small contingency of legislators has designs on phasing out these lifesaving chemicals and could introduce legislation this year. Citizens for Fire Safety aims to stay on top of the issue to ensure all parties are properly informed and considerate of resident safety.
