Michigan Fire Safety (Updated 10/23/2008)
Michigan: HB 4465, currently in committee, would phase-out the use of life-saving fire retardants in mattresses, upholstered furniture, and electronics, ALL items susceptible to ignition. The bill contains no scientific substantiation and provides no alternatives. The fact remains: no alternative has undergone as much safety testing or has had as successful a track record as the fire retardants named in the bill.
